The BET Experience weekend officially kicked off on Friday night in Los Angeles at the STAPLES Center, with a concert by Usher, Bryson Tiller, Kehlani and more!
Usher, who headlined the show, surprised the stadium audience by bringing out special guests Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Wale, and Young Thug, during his set.
The R&B superstar performed hit-after-hit from his massive catalog, including such old favorites as “Confessions,” “Nice & Slow,” and “U Don’t Have To Call” which he did along with Snoop as a mashup to the West Coast legend’s hit Pharrell collaboration, “Beautiful.”
Tiller showcased his live performance with breakout singles “Don’t,” “Exchange,” and more off his debut album TRAPSOUL. Kehlani always brings an energetic show to the stage, as she showed off her short hair and tattoos, performing cuts from her mixtapes, Cloud 19, and the Grammy-nominated You Should Be Here.
The BET Experience at L.A. Live, presented by Coca-Cola®, runs June 23-26, with music and comedy concerts taking place at The Novo Theater and STAPLES Center; FREE BET Fan Fest at the Los Angeles Convention Center including seminars, celebrity basketball games, celebrity meet & greets; and other special appearances. The weekend will be capped off with the “BET Awards” on Sunday, June 26.

ThisisRnB.com, that was a VERY GENEROUS review of Usher’s performance lastnight. I have to be honest… Usher’s performance was less than great. It was lack luster at best. He wasn’t singing and didn’t do much dancing which is what you expect to get at an Usher concert. Seriously, if I knew the expectation was for the fans to sing 75% of the songs, I would have prepared better (that was sarcasm). His special guests were more appreciated than he judging by the thunderous roars from the audience when they entered the stage. Honestly, Bryson Tiller’s performance WAS the show. His fans were thoroughly entertained. His fans were definitely vibing with him and singing ALONG WITH HIM. They knew EVERY word to EVERY song. On the other hand, Usher’s fans LEFT THE CONCERT EARLY!!! I could not believe what I was seeing. People were actually leaving the Staples Center midway through his performance. Sad. I definitely left feeling underwhelmed and disappointed. Usher is better than this. What the hell happened?
