Teyana Taylor is taking over!
Fresh off her breakout role in Kanye West’s “Fade” video, the G.O.O.D. Music songstress will be joining two new TV shows, “The Breaks” and “Hip Hop Squares.”
The 25-year-old will have a recurring role on the hip-hop drama series “The Breaks,” which follows the film of the same name that premiered on VH1 back in January. Set in the 1990s, the show explores hip-hop’s role in New York at the time with a cast that includes Mack Wilds, Afton Willamson, and Antoine Harris.
Taylor, whose acting credits include Brotherly Love and Madea’s Big Happy Family, will also have a stint on “Hip Hop Squares.” Executive produced by Ice Cube, the show will feature celebrity contestants testing their pop culture knowledge, and is set to premiere in the fall.
That’s not all. This week, Teyana announced that she is working on a new album, the follow-up to her stellar 2014 debut VII, as well as a remix to G.O.O.D. Music’s “Champions” single, which featured Kanye, Big Sean, Gucci Mane, and 2 Chainz.
A workout DVD may also be in the works, but for right now, she is enjoying her newfound exposure.
“It’s emotional because I’ve been in the industry for so long and I’ve never understood why certain things weren’t happening,” Taylor told Vogue. “And now I feel like my story, everything that I’ve been through, makes this moment so much more special. Though it took so long for this to happen, I don’t feel like it could’ve happened at a better time.”
