ANGEL is prepping us for summertime.
In his newest single, “Hi Grade,” the UK singer/songwriter blends together Reggae and R&B to craft the perfect song for chilling on the beach with bae on a hot summer day. The song, an ode to his British-Grenadian heritage, is dedicated to his father who raised him on some of Reggae’s greatest artists as a child.
“So if you’re coming’ to my place, baby we can smoke up the hi grade,” ANGEL sings on the chorus. “The kinda high make you feel light, really making’ love ’til it feel right.”
“I actually started producing Reggae music initially before I found love in R&B,” ANGEL told The FADER. “This record was an opportunity to make something my Pops and Uncles would be really proud of. It’s authentic and represents my foundation and roots. It’s really important to me”
ANGEL season is upon us. Next up for the Motown/Island signee is the release of a fresh new EP coming this spring.
