Essence has announced the full night-by-night performance schedule for the 2017 Essence Festival.
The annual summertime concert series will take place June 30 – July 2 in New Orleans at the Superdome.
A lineup of over 40 R&B, Soul, and Hip Hop acts are set to perform throughout the weekend on the festival’s renowned Mainstage and in the intimate Superlounges. Festival first-timers Diana Ross and Chance the Rapper will open and close the weekend with unforgettable headlining performances on Friday and Sunday night respectively – along with a special all-female Saturday night lineup, inspired by headliner Mary J. Blige’s forthcoming album Strength of A Woman.
Jazmine Sullivan, Monica, Jill Scott, Chaka Khan, Jhené Aiko and more are set for the special Saturday night. Meanwhile, John Legend, India.Arie, Ro James and more will perform on Friday. In addition to Chance the Rapper, Sunday is set to bring a legendary No Limit Records reunion with Master P, Silkk, Mystikal and Mia X; along with Solange, BJ The Chicago Kid, Daley, and the recently added return of Xscape!
