Indie artist J.Stephenz is bringing the feeling with the release of his debut project, ‘ItzSomethinAboutThis; The EP.’
The Mississippi-raised, Ohio-based singer/rapper is ready to share his musical aspirations with the world through the 7-track project. The EP carries a clear Hip-Hop and R&B inspiration from the ’90s and 2000s.
On the summer single, “Tonight” featuring Texas rapper C.Struggs, he pays homage to the old school with a sexy vocal sample of Marvin Gaye’s “Sexual Healing.” The track itself delivers a head bobbing bounce and shuttering synth.
After showing his skills on the mic with rap flows, J. Stephenz slows it down on the bedroom jam, “Let You Go (Don’t Go).”
“Mr. Telephone Man, there’s something wrong with my line / I tired to hit my shawty up but I ain’t getting through this time,” he sings. “Can you please redirect it /
It’s important and I’m stressing / You can call this a blessing / With my game locked, straight flexing.”
“Music has always been a passion for me and now it’s time for the world to hear,” says J. Stephenz.
