Pharrell quickly follows “Yellow Light” with a playful video for “There’s Something Special,” his second new song from the Despicable Me 3 soundtrack.
The mellow song features positive lyrics, reflecting on complacency, spirituality, and a reinvigorated spirit.
“I’m a sinner / Sometimes I only did what was required / I’m a sinner, sometimes I sat down when I got tired,” sings Williams. “Should’ve stayed standing up, to do the job for which I was hired / But the good Lord, thank you for relighting my fire.”
“There’s Something Special” is slated to soundtrack Gru and Lucy’s affection for their children throughout DM3. The video features Pharrell’s cut out head floating through blue skies as the minions fly around and play instruments. Scenes from the movie play throughout as well.
The forthcoming Despicable Me 3 soundtrack is set to feature eight tracks from Skateboard P, along with ’80s classics like Michael Jackson’s “Bad,” a-ha’s “Take On Me,” and Madonna’s “Into the Groove.”
Available for pre-order now, the DM3 soundtrack will be released June 23, while the film opens in theaters June 30.
