New Music: Melanie Fiona – Remember U

By

Welcome back Melanie Fiona!

The soulful vocalist makes her commanding comeback today (Sept. 22) with the strong-willed ballad “Remember U.” After spending time to enjoy motherhood while raising her first child with singer/songwriter Jared Cotter, the R&B songbird is prepping for the release of her anticipated third studio album, Next Train.

From stalking Mel on social media it would appear that all is well and good in her current relationship, but on “Remember U” she pulls from an emotional experience with a past lover.

“I can’t, fall back in love again / You broke this simple heart / That used to beat for you my friend,” she sings over live instrumention. “And I say that you’ve got some nerve just to come back and say that you’re sorry / For what / You’ve got some nerve to break what I feel and play me now you’re sorry.”

Next Train, is due out in early 2018, it will continue to highlight and define Fiona’s genuine story-telling abilities expressing both vulnerability and strength. The album follows her 2012 set The MF Life, which spawned the singles “Gone and Never Coming Back,” “4am,” and “This Time.”

Take a listen to “Remember U” and stay tuned for our exclusive interview with Melanie Fiona coming next week.
