After announcing his new album Coming of Age, which has already spawned the Dancehall flavored single “Bad Gal,” throwback inspired bedroom burner “Too Long” and the introspective title track, Sammie shares a taste of the “Good Life.”
The Rick Ross-featured track is a vibey, melodic ode to the dangers of living the so called ‘good life,’ from spending cash, partying with models, and losing your inhibitions.
Sammie smoothly sings: “Welcome to the good life / Where the bottles come in dozens / Where what you thought really wasn’t / Welcome to the good life / Where we pass out ’til the mornin’ / And then you wake up feeling lonely.”
Joining him for the second verse, Rozay drops some boastful bars. “Shoutout Dr. Miami, he keeps the ass the softest,” he raps. “Rings on every finger, Fat Boy the new Tom Brady / Had her move in with me, now the roommates be hating.”
“Working with Rick Ross was a dream come true,” Sammie told BET of the collaboration. “I was raised in Miami for six years of my childhood. It’s the city where I got my drive, heart and dedication from. My manager, Skino, got in contact with Slab of MMG and Slab took me to Ross’s house personally. I told Rozay, ‘Thank you for being a part of my campaign and come back. He replied, ‘It’s nothing, we love Sammie, it’s all love,’ and to make sure I hit him up for the video. The stars just aligned! Welcome to the ‘Good Life.’”
Coming of Age is due out September 15. In support of the album, Sammie will be joining Tank on his “Savage Tour,” kicking off Sept. 5 in Nashville.
