Sam Smith made a triumphant return to “Saturday Night Live” this past weekend.
Live from 30 Rock, the English crooner delivered a chilling rendition of his brand new single “Too Good at Goodbyes” on the show’s vintage subway station backdrop.
Surrounded by red roses, a live band, and backup singers, Smith poured out the emotional single.
Switching up the lighting to a purple hue, the 25-year-old singer picked things back up with a moving performance of his Timbaland collaboration, “Pray.” This time, he was also accompanied by a choir, for an even more soulful take on the latest Thrill of It All single.
Following the show, Smith beamed about the experience, tweeting: “Fuck that was a rush.”
Smith’s sophomore album, The Thrill of It All, is due Nov. 3. He will also launch an accompanying tour next summer.
