Last year, Verse Simmonds returned with the brand new project Diamonds, the anticipated follow-up to his underrated album To All The Girls. The project was led by the ThisisRnB premiered single, “Liquor & Misunderstanding,” where the five-time Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter opens up about a regretful night.
The black-and-white video, directed by Grizz Lee, finds Verse sitting in his Miami apartment contemplating the situation where the mixing of brown and clear liquors caused him a lapse of judgement. We see him arguing with his girlfriend in other scenes at home, and moments of them being intimate in bed.
“Last night I mixed Patrón with the Henny / Last night I said some things that I shouldn’t,” sings Verse. “Last night I took it too far and you took it all wrong.”
Admitting more of his faults and foggy decisions, Simmonds later croons: “It’s getting hard to see the difference between you and these models / I guess that’s where it all went wrong / Saying things we can never take back / In a glass house throwing stones.”
The road leads to a breakup and potential devastating car crash as the video ends with his girl driving away and crying.
