The Weeknd is ‘Mastering’ His New Album

By

After shooting a music video in Taft, Calif., The Weeknd confirmed that his next release is in the mastering stage.

Taking to Instagram, the XO crooner posted six silent videos in three separate posts. Each one shows Abel in the studio, singing, smoking, reading off his phone, and bobbing his head to playback. The caption for each post is “mastering.”

The previously rumored follow-up to 2016’s Starboy could arrive in the next few weeks. The Weeknd is scheduled to headline Coachella on April 13 and 20. It’s plausible to expect the first single or possibly the full album before then. Later this year, he will also headline at the Panorama Festival in New York City, followed by Lollapalooza in Chicago.

Hints about the new album have also been dropping. Earlier this month, Travis Scott confirmed that it was practically done. “Abel new album is [scary],” he tweeted. “It’s like when I first heard him for the first time. Fuckkkkkk !!!!!” There is very little information about the sound and who he is working with, but producer Frank Dukes (Rihanna, Drake, Camila Cabello) is expected to be heavily involved.
