What You May Have Missed Mondays

What You May Have Missed

By

As the summer is slowly starting to fade and the pool parties are winding down, we understand that any time you have to yourself is probably filled with moments of self-care. Although you may have weekends off from work, we understand that there are times that you just forget to check out new music releases. And while we’re always here to give you day-by-day updates, we figured giving you a recap of some of the best R&B tracks and moments from weekend’s past at the top of each week is a great way for you to hear all the good stuff in one place.

Here’s what you may have missed while you were taking a moment to yourself this weekend:

Bryson Tiller taught us why being “Patient” is worth it.

Tiller had us at a standstill anticipating when he would drop new music, but within a two month timespan, he’s released three singles. His latest release, “Patient” — which features Che Ecru — is a melodic tune about why practicing patience is something we all need. The song is expected to be featured on his well overdue third album, “Serenity.”

Incomparable duo Louis York dropped their first track of the year, “Don’t You Forget.”

Comprised of talented songwriters Claude Kelly and Chuck Harmony, Louis York took over the internet with their first release of 2019, “Don’t You Forget.” Backed by a high energy instrumental reminiscent of classic tunes by timeless groups such as Earth, Wind & Fire, this ‘80s influenced song is perfect to groove to all year round.

“Don’t You Forget” serves as the lead single from the group’s debut album “American Griots.” The album is slated to be released on October 18.

Destiny Moriah released a new female anthem titled “Aggravated.”

We know this wasn’t released this weekend, but we can’t stop playing it and it deserves a little shine. Singing out lyrics like “Why you actin’ up / Actin’ crazy / I’m moving on to somebody that deserves me,” the talented songstress delivers vocals that float effortlessly against this melodic beat. She’s giving every woman permission to “let him stay where he stands,” and find a King who is deserving of a Queen. Hopefully, this this an inkling of what’s in store for us on the album.

Sabrina Claudio’s visual for the new single “On My Shoulders” is four minutes of pure seduction.

Sabrina Claudio dropped a cynical, sexy and seductive single titled, “On My Shoulders” and there’s a video to accompany it. Lacing the slow tempo track with her airy vocals, Claudio flows smoothly on the new song and we can’t wait to hear what’s coming next. Showcasing three versions of herself in the visual, you can tell the songstress didn’t hold back when creating this piece of artistry.

We’re hooked and know you will be, too.

Legendary R&B acts SILK, Faith Evans, SWV and Next put on a show to remember.

The Dell Music Center in Philadelphia, PA hosted one of the ultimate R&B concerts of the season featuring some of the greats of the genre.

Kicking the night off with a crowd pleaser, SILK performed their fan favorite single  “There’s a Meeting in my Bedroom,” and kept everyone on their feet from that moment on. R&B trio Next performed some of their top hits and had everyone belting out the RL and Deborah Cox hit, “We Can’t Be Friends.” Former first lady of Bad Boy Faith Evans put her thing down with the performance of her ‘90s hit, “As Soon as I get Home” and brought out surprise guest, rapper Freeway. Closing out the show and keeping the crowd swerving and swaying from side to side was SWV with their classic remix to “Anything.”

What other tracks did you hear this weekend or big moments that you know of that we may have missed?
