K. Michelle - Just Like Jay

K. Michelle Drops Visual To “Just Like Jay” Ahead Of Album Release

By

K. Michelle‘s foray into full-time country music may be sooner than fans think. Releasing her latest single  “Just Like Jay” and its accompanying visual, the Memphis native is tapping into her roots with this one.

Lifted from her forthcoming album, All Monsters Are Human, the petite songstress struts the dusty old town roads with a classic red Chevrolet truck in tow. Donning a red leather blazer dress and matching thigh-high boots in one scene and an all-white fringed, two-piece pants set in another, the songstress pours our her heart in the almost five minute visual.

Though simple and straight to the point, the visual finds a way to perfectly depict the words to the song. Continuing to show the world that Black artists can tap into Country music, too, K. Michelle found a way to mix her love for both R&B and Country music all in one track. Singing out, “Where is the love? / ‘Cause they not giving me none / What have I done? / To make them hate me so much,” the song reveals the toughest moments that have made her want to “fade to black, just like Jay” recently. From leaving Atlantic Records and finding her ex cheating with his ex while she was recovering from surgery, the song finds the K. baring her pain for all to see.
