Coke Carl — the Brooklyn sensation — has developed a natural connection with R&B over the last few years through attention-grabbing singles. Familiar with his smooth vocals and succulent subject matter, the rising artist capitalizes on the fever-pitch popularity in the release of his debut project, creatively-titled, Butterflyz.
Carl dives deep into his vintage R&B background for the new collection’s inspiration. Relying on the legends to guide him, Carl remembers:
“I grew up listening to Luther Vandross, Al Green, and BoyzIIMen. Whenever I had a moment to myself, I practiced singing to their songs a lot. At some point in my life I was introduced to Ty Dolla $ign, 6lack, and Eli Sostre. Listening to their music definitely changed my singing style but I feel as if it just helped me find my own sound. Experimenting with your voice is very important when it comes to finding your own sound.”
Butterflyz is streaming everywhere via Coke Carl’s own imprint. For fans, the debut album is the perfect origin point to begin following Carl’s undeniable rise to the top of the charts.
