This past Sunday as the music industry celebrated the 64th Annual Grammy Awards, TV One’s NAACP Image Award-winning documentary series “Unsung” celebrated Hip Hop & R&B duo, PM Dawn.
From Harrison City, New Jersey to London to Hollywood – Prince B. and Eternal would emerge in 1991 and solidify themselves as the first Hip Hop duo to go #1. At the time, their single “Set Adrift on Memory Bliss” rose above Prince, Boyz II Men, and Michael Jackson on the Hot 100 charts. The rap duo recorded four albums “Of the Heart, Of The Soul, and of the Cross: The Utopian Experience,” The Bliss Album…? Vibrations of Love and Anger and the Ponderance of Life and Existence,” Jesus Wept, and Dearest Christian: I’m So Very Sorry for Bringing You Here. Love, Dad.”
ThisIsRnB host Jessica Dupree had the pleasure of interviewing PM Dawn’s surviving member Jarett Cordes, known professionally as Eternal, which proved to be an in-depth eye-opening conversation.
During our exclusive interview, Eternal recalls the moment in their New Jersey home when he and Prince B. decided that music would be their calling and proudly recalls how the duo masterfully crafted a unique sound and created their own unique lane, and a life-changing phone call from Eddie murphy and the subsequent hit single “Die Without You” would catapult them into Hollywood with a cinematic impact and so much more.
