Grammy-winning, artist Leon Thomas unveils new single and music video “X-RATED” Featuring Benny The Butcher.
Thomas has been quietly but steadily adding to his very impressive resume. As he recently hopped on the trendy challenge “They Call Me” which highlights some of his well-known characters on television and film, he can now add “rare treasure” with his head bobbing single “X-Rated” featuring Benny the Butcher. Thomas has once again proved his pen game is unmatched.
Thomas takes the listeners on an underground voyage to expose the vulnerability of a man entangled with an unfaithful woman. He is caught between a rock and a hard place. “If these walls could talk,” solidified his unknowing suspicions. Thomas features Benny The Butcher Buffalo native on this sizzling self-produced track.
Butcher goes on to warn young men to watch out for deceitful wenches in the psychedelic/x-ray film negative video. Trying to impress women with money and luxury things could lead to shallow expectations of a real relationship. In other words, heartbreak. In the lyrics, Butcher is confessing his truth as he speaks of a similar experience when he said, “Yo Leon I have a confession/since we kicking it/she got me too.”
Thomas shares the inspiration behind “X-Rated” saying it “is an ode to my love of “Boom Bap” and early 90’s instrumentals. Benny The Butcher brought authentic bars and helped further the theme of this record.”
The Grammy-winning, Thomas’ has contributed his unparalleled writing skills for everyone from Toni Braxton and Babyface –winning a Grammy for his writing credits on the duo’s 2014 joint album Love, Marriage & Divorce—to Post Malone, Ariana Grande, Chris Brown, Kehlani, J. Cole, Rick Ross, Ella Mai, and more. As a co-writer and co-producer, he recently powered “Pipe Down,” “Love All”[feat. JAY-Z], and “In the Bible” [feat. Lil Durk & Giveon] from Drake’s global chart-topping Certified Lover Boy album.
Thomas is expected to release a full EP soon so stay tuned.
