Rising R&B songstress Dri Jack recently dropped the audio and visual for her newest single, “Could’ve Been.”
The track can be described as trap soul R&B meets 90s R&B- a perfect combination. The beat is really smooth, as well as her vocals. The track is not fast, but fast enough to bob your head or rock to the beat. “Could’ve Been” is one for the ladies who are moving on from the broken promises but still keeping it sexy. Dri Jack is dropping right in time for the movement where women are about putting themselves first and exuding that fierce feminine energy. And she makes it very clear in part of the chorus when she says,
“I can’t think about what could’ve been/ No more reaching out to you again/Hearts crying out /But you ain’t hit me back .”
To add even more to the 90s vibe, in scenes from the music video, Jack is wearing a long dress in a dark setting, but standing barefoot in the water, pouring out her feelings- her version of not chasing “waterfalls?” She is with her man in the video, but she is also letting him know how she feels. He joins her close to the end of the video in the water scene, but she grabs his hand for a quick moment before walking away and leaving him alone.
Another interesting scene of the video is the room full of floating flowers. Jack sits on a mustard-colored couch while singing the lyrics.
“Could’ve Been,” is available on all streaming platforms and will is featured on Jack’s EP, “The Other Side.”
