Tank, the R&B veteran has officially released his 11th studio album “Experience,” and the 16-track project finds Tank stretching creatively while staying connected to the soulful storytelling that has defined his career.
‘Experience’ takes listeners through several sides of Tank, from smooth R&B and funk to house-inspired production and gospel. The album features an impressive lineup of collaborators, including Charlie Wilson, Remy Ma, Kirk Franklin, Lecrae, Eric Dawkins, Zacardi Cortez, Fred Hammond, and MK.
Among the highlights is “Rick,” a funky tribute to the legendary Rick James that brings plenty of personality, with Remy Ma adding a fiery guest verse. Meanwhile, “Highlight” featuring Charlie Wilson and MK takes things to the dance floor, while “How I Need You” featuring Kirk Franklin, Eric Dawkins, and Zacardi Cortez reconnects Tank with his gospel roots.
The project also arrives with momentum behind “Yes,” which continues making noise at R&B radio.
But Tank’s season extends well beyond the studio. He is currently on the road with Usher and Chris Brown for The R&B Tour: Raymond & Brown, while his surprise free piano pop-ups have been creating memorable fan moments in cities across the country.
And there’s more on the way. Tank is also stepping onto the small screen as Eric Cropper in Season 4 of Hulu’s Reasonable Doubt, premiering October 6.
More than 20 years into his career, Tank continues to show why evolution is such an important part of R&B. ‘EXPERIENCE’ is another chapter — one that invites listeners to turn it up, settle in, and take the ride with him.
