KERRY “KRUCIAL” BROTHERS INTERVIEW

There is a famous saying that goes, “Behind every great man, there is a great woman.” For the incomparable Ms. Alicia Keys, however, it’s the other way around; it is Grammy and ASCAP award winner Kerry “Krucial” Brothers who is responsible for co-writing and producing hit records on all three of Keys’ solo albums, including her latest gem, “No One.”

Though he doesn’t rock a piano at televised award shows or star in music videos with Method Man, Brothers’ impact on the music industry cannot and should not go unnoticed. In addition to his work with Keys, his discography includes placements with Rakim, Mario, and Angie Stone, as well as forthcoming credits with Anthony Hamilton, Brandy, and Robert Randolph.

In an exclusive interview with DJBooth’s DJZ,” Brothers steps inside the booth to talk about the future of the music industry, the slow death of the compact disc, how Alicia’s “No One” record came to life, and whether or not he is serious about a side career as a rapper.
