August Alsina returns to his acoustic remix style that helped launch his career, with a stripped down remix of Future’s hit single “Honest.”
The 21-year-old discusses fake rappers, fake friends, and the pressure and price of fame. He also delivers a few bars to those that may discount his contribution to hip-hop because he sings his story, rather than rap it.
“A lot a niggas had doubts, said I wasn’t gon make it. If I were to rap the same shit, (they) probably woulda been on my dick. And I probably woulda been on freshman list, BET wouldn’t ban shit. R&B niggas woulda been missed, bitch niggas wouldn’t understand this”.
Alsina gets an assist from Minneapolis MC Rocky Diamonds who adds a guest verse on the ballad which was produced by Muziq Korner & Carlos Cahee. Take a listen below!
