The praise heavy, uplifting track has the attention of the masses and probably won’t let up any time soon. Produced by incredible mastermind, Harmony Samuels, the song was formed as an ode to his Nigerian roots.
Originally a solo record performed by Michelle herself, the former DC bandmates decided to get in on the fun once they heard the astounding track. Williams states:
“They received an advance copy of the album and called saying, ‘We love ‘When Jesus Says Yes’… there has to be a Destiny’s Child mix of the song,'” Williams recalls. “Kelly did it and Beyonce got right in the studio and did her part. I kept it a secret because I didn’t want anyone to know until it was time.”
Going on to say that she hopes the reconnection with her gal pals will help fans understand where she is going as a musical artist, Michelle says:
“Destiny’s Child had millions of fans but the second I did ‘gospel,’ they were, like, ‘We love you but I don’t know…’ My message is that I’m here to inspire and to encourage and give hope. Whatever you want to do, you can do. I’m not saying it’s going to be easy, but I’ve been there. I have been down in a dark place and I want to tell people my story of how I got to that dark place and how I’m free from it now.”
While the song is great enough, we’re sure that the accompanying visual will be its own blessing from the powerhouse singers as we get to see them interact on camera once again. Filmed in late May, the official video should be out any day now, but we’ll keep our fingers crossed for sooner than later.
“Say Yes” is the third single released from Williams forthcoming fourth solo album Journey To Freedom, which is coming soon.
