Mary J. Blige is back to feeling good, and celebrating love.
The Queen of Hip Hop Soul sheds the grey clouds of her past relationship and heads to the dance floor with the disco soul jam “Only Love,” her first official single since 2017’s Strength of a Woman album.
Produced by Pop & Oak, the triumphant song finds the R&B icon celebrating love over a joyful four on the floor beat.
“Took me a while, but I’m looking up ’cause I know you love me too,” she sings. “‘Cause you came right in and you brought me home / I ain’t never felt this feeling, oooh, I’m in.”
Mary appears to be in a wonderful place following her public divorce from Kendu Isaacs. “Only love can save the day,” she adds.
“Only Love” is expected to be the first single off her forthcoming album, which is coming soon via Republic Records.
