A week before releasing his new album, Raheem Devaughn delivers the freaky new anthem “That Way (Act 1).” At the start, The Love King proclaims “this is a nasty song, one time for the nasty song.” Going on to describe a new romance that feels so familiar, Raheem confidently tells her, “If you want it you can get it / I can hit it, I can hit it that way.”
The song is a perfectly crafted sex jam and another masterfully mature description of a provocative night that DeVaughn always does so well, at least once on each album. The bridge surprises with an infectious electric guitar solo as he once again speaks softly to his lover in the background.
Decade Of A Love King is due out October 19, it has previously spawned the singles “Don’t Come Easy” and “What It Feels Like.”
