As the world continues to mourn the loss of NBA legend Kobe Bryant, artists are beginning to assist in the healing process with the release of touching musical tributes. Among the first to drop a track in memory of the Black Mamba and his daughter Gianna, was R&B singer and Los Angeles native Tinashe. Taking to her Soundcloud, the young songstress uploaded the original version of her single “Hopscotch” noting that it was the “KOBE LA version.”
Initially found on her recently released album Songs For You, the album version hears her singing “L.A., like I’m Bronny,” but now — on the original version of the song — Tinashe reveals the lyric originally paid respect to the five-time NBA champion Laker.
Tinashe, like the rest of the world, was shocked at the passing of the iconic Lakers passing and took to social media to express her devastation. Joined by other artists such as Drake, Chris Brown, Kehlani and Beyoncé, who all posted their own personal tributes to Kobe and his family, the starlet connected with her followers about the passing by tweeting “I’m gonna thrown up. Life is wayyyy too short and unpredictable, tell people you love them. This is so crazy.”
