It was ladies’ night as BET taped its annual “Black Girls Rock!” special at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark on Saturday. Hosted by Tracee Ellis Ross and Regina King, the star-studded evening celebrated the positive images of women of color.

This year’s performers included Janelle Monáe, Patti LaBelle, Ledisi, Alice Smith, and Kelly Rowland, who was joined by Sevyn Streeter and Eve on a remix to her latest single “Gone.”

“@kellyrowland def the big sis I never had! She murdered BGR tonight!” tweeted Sevyn, who penned “Gone.”

Jennifer Hudson debuted a new short ‘do while performing her Pharrell-produced single “I Can’t Describe (The Way I Feel).”

Mariah Carey, who recently recovered from a painful injury, ditched her sling and bared her midriff while presenting her godmother Patti LaBelle with the Living Legend Award.

You can see all these moments and more when “Black Girls Rock!” airs on Sunday, November 3, at 7 PM, in the meantime check out some photos below:
