Some may have been caught by surprise from a new voice featured on Chris Brown’s new album Royalty, but when invited to this young lady’s listening session there was no doubt about it I’d be there.

Taylor Parks, also known as Tayla Parx, is no new kid on the block when it comes to the music biz. At the fresh age of 22 years old, Parx has been recognized with three Grammy nominations and has landed placements with some of R&B’s biggest names. The Dallas, Texas native had her first taste of the arts at just 9 years old when she joined Debbie Allen’s Dance Academy. Flaunting that bubbly personality and undeniable talent she turned her singing and dancing hobby into what would soon become her career. In our exclusive interview she shares how taking a leap of faith landed her an acting role in the 2007 classic musical “Hairspray,” and in television series’ Gilmore Girls, Everybody Hates Chris, Bones, and more.

Moving to Los Angeles permanently was the first step to tackling showbiz and the music industry one opportunity at a time. Tayla put her pen to work landing her first placement on Sevyn Streeter’s Call Me Crazy, But… EP, and later adding credits with Ariana Grande, J-Lo, Jason Derulo, Mariah Carey, Fifth Harmony and more. “Random” is how she described ending up on Chris Brown’s Royalty album, as a feature on “Anyway”. Right place right time lead to the introduction to Tayla Parx the artist.

Her incredible range and raspy tone is one that’s been missing from R&B recently, and in the interview she says she wants to be the one to fill that void. Parx is already preparing an EP to debut this spring, and is also up for a Grammy for her work on The Internet’s Ego Death album.
