New Music: Ro James – Selfish About Mary

By

Aye! New Ro James.

While we’ve been very patiently awaiting the release of his ‘Mirrors‘ EP, the follow-up to March’s ‘Smoke‘ EP, the soulful crooner has shared a new song called “Selfish About Mary.”

The surprise loosie track might just be to hold fans over as he plots the anticipated EP release, like he did last month with the sensual “Excuse Me,” which honestly still needs more attention.

The new drop is an ode to ‘Mary Jane’ and a metaphor for a lover whom he equates to his admiration for marijuana. Ro claims he is selfish for a woman who ‘lights him up’ and he doesn’t want to pass her to anyone else.

“I’ma keep it blunt baby,” he sings. “Passing you around / In a haze of emotion, going through the motions (heyyy) … I love the taste of you / I won’t share this love with nobody else.”

That’s real talk, we should all be a little selfish about our love sometimes. We’re just glad Ro decided to share this new gem with us.
