Earlier this month, we introduced you to R&B newcomer DEZ, with the music video to his song, “We Ride.” Today, The Virginia-bred singer, born Dezmond Armstead, has released his debut project, the “Real Talk” mixtape. Following high school, Dez moved to Los Angeles to pursue his singing talent, and things started to move in the right direction when he met production duo The Movement (Justin Bieber, Jesse McCartney). Together, they began discussing their united love for ’90s R&B, and set out to create a project which represented the emerging singer and paid homage to the music that inspired them so much.
“Real Talk is more than just songs to entertain and make money,” said Dez. “It’s pieces of who I am and the things I’ve gone through. It’s about the real things we all go through. The genuine and non-genuine decisions we make for love. It’s my hope, my light, my mistakes and my hate.”
