03. USHER – FLAWED
Just in time to provide further details for this list, Usher announced the official title of his oft-delayed 8th studio album. Revealing the name (Flawed) on social media in a short video with popular modern artist Daniel Arsham, the R&B superstar has us even more curious about the forthcoming effort.
His follow-up release to 2012’s Looking 4 Myself, has been in the works for a few years, and already spawned the Grammy nominated single “Good Kisser,” “She Came To Give It To You” featuring Nicki Minaj, and the Juicy J-assisted “I Don’t Mind.” Setting the tone strong, with 2 successful radio singles, the singer pushed the album back twice, resulting in the last delay remaining until this year.
On New Year’s Eve, Usher debuted two new songs, “Hard to Love” and “Cards,” during a private concert for Samsung Pay in Hollywood. The sound of the records are vastly opposite, and also quite different than the previously released singles. With an album title that boasts similarities to his magnum opus, Confessions, and the push-backs matching a similar delay in the release of the aforementioned, we’re seeing a pattern that has the potential to exceed our expectations.
