#2. Toni Braxton & Babyface – ‘Love, Marriage & Divorce’
If there’s one thing that’s obvious to us it’s good music and, 2014 produced plenty of it. Included in that aforementioned statement are two legendary performers, Toni Braxton and Babyface. While their relationship spans back to over 20 years ago, last year was the first year the close friends put out a joint album, and the nostalgia quickly set in.
Noted as some of the most talented artists to grace the R&B genre, the longevity and consistency of both Toni and Babyface is enough to qualify this album for this year’s list. However, the album stood its ground – in our opinion – went above and beyond our expectations. Love, Marriage, & Divorce, was – and still is – the album that will make you touch on every portion and curve of what love is and means – no matter if you’ve been a dedicated fan of the duo since the ‘90s or if you’re just being exposed to them now.
Kicking the album off with the addicting single, “Rollercoaster,” and moving into the seductive single “Sweat,” there’s no way that anyone can deny the perfection that this album encompasses.
Continuing on with providing supreme vocals and putting nothing but their best foot forward, it should be no surprise that even with the ups and downs of their careers, Toni and Babyface are still two of the most gifted, appreciated, and anticipated artists to step into the industry. – K.P.
uhm where is Guy Sebastian? Pretty crappy top 20 tbh.
where my man Joe at? Bridges was dope!!
I liked Mariah’s album as well. I’m still shocked that not to many people got to hear it. Dave Hollister and Johnny Gill and Dave Hollister’s albums were also pretty decent.
D’Angelo definitely had my favorite album last year.
Chris Brown & August Alsina had some good albums too but that’s about it. I hope Badu and Soulchild come with some heat this year.
TINASHE
JMSN had the best R&B album of the year.
R. Kelly had the best R&B album of 2014. #BlackPanties
Glad to see Rochelle Jordan on the list. Her album was so good! Tinashe definitely deserved to be in the top 5 as well. Another great album!
Sorry But SexPlayList is the thing Omarion did.
what about keyshia cole – point of no return and ashanti – braveheart?
