#19. Trey Songz – ‘Trigga’
Just like many of the others on this list, R&B crooner Trey Songz had a great year. While turning 30 might seem like a downer to some, the singer can certainly say that 2014 was one of joy and celebration. Debatably putting out some of his best material to date with his sixth album Trigga, Trey focused heavily on turn up records, but still managed to keep his typical lyrical foreplay that fans have grown to love him for over the years.
With features from Justin Bieber, rumored boo Mila J, Nicki Minaj, Ty Dolla $ign, and Juicy J, Trigga’s track arrangement took us on a ride and glide through the mind of Trey’s alter ego. Serving as the first look into his dual personality albums, this project brought a different look when it came to his music. While he’s still singing about sucking and well…you know…it’s a little different this time around. Although still not an album that replaced the feeling that we got when we first heard his Anticipation 2 mixtape, Trigga is the closest we’ll get to that as of now.
Including standout tracks such as “Disrespectful,” “All We Do,” and “Yes, No, Maybe,” Trigga has us interested in seeing what Tremaine will be about when it hits shelves this year. – K.P.
uhm where is Guy Sebastian? Pretty crappy top 20 tbh.
where my man Joe at? Bridges was dope!!
I liked Mariah’s album as well. I’m still shocked that not to many people got to hear it. Dave Hollister and Johnny Gill and Dave Hollister’s albums were also pretty decent.
D’Angelo definitely had my favorite album last year.
Chris Brown & August Alsina had some good albums too but that’s about it. I hope Badu and Soulchild come with some heat this year.
TINASHE
JMSN had the best R&B album of the year.
R. Kelly had the best R&B album of 2014. #BlackPanties
Glad to see Rochelle Jordan on the list. Her album was so good! Tinashe definitely deserved to be in the top 5 as well. Another great album!
Sorry But SexPlayList is the thing Omarion did.
what about keyshia cole – point of no return and ashanti – braveheart?
